Computer Applications (CAPPS) 7th Grade is a quarter – long class that explores the rapidly changing technology available to us today. Starting with an in – depth understanding of computers, students take a hands – on approach toward learning computer fundamentals, file management, web browsing and today’s most widely used computer applications. Activities include an in-depth introduction to Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Word, Publisher and PowerPoint. Students will complete a wide range of projects including the development of student biographies, poster design and the creation of effective and informational PowerPoint presentations. Next, students will be introduced to the Adobe Creative Suite Family including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. Projects will include collage design, logo and identity development, photo editing, image manipulation and vector creation. When students complete the 9 week course they will have obtained a comprehensive understanding of today’s dynamic world of technology.
World of Technology (WOT) 8th Grade
World of Technology (WOT) 8th Gradeis a semester course that gives students an opportunity to work in a real-life, student-run business. Students will be expected to develop desirable work habits through hands-on experience in a profit-sharing business. Students will be involved in running the school's greenhouse and other student-made product companies. Additionally, students will engage in a wide range of graphic design projects including logo and identity creation, poster and brochure design and all aspects of print processing. Students are selected for WOW by a combined Team recommendation and nomination process.
